Or should I say, a little deja vu? Here’s to a new old beginning… one so desperately needed.
I’m a writer. I’ve always been a writer. I know no different. And yet, here I go again, writing something new.
It feels like time.
Evolution is such a strange experience, isn’t it?
One minute you’re one thing, you stand for something, you enjoy certain things, and you live life according to the set of rules you create around them.
And the next minute, you’re over it.
Falling out of love with parts of ourselves, pieces of our lives, and moments in time is totally normal. Yet, it’s hard not to look back on it all and feel a type of way.
The terrible haircuts, questionable romantic choices, and outfits so awful they wouldn’t have even made the People magazine’s worst dressed list.
But, it’s not all bad.
In fact, it’s far from it.
Because there will always be those parts of our lives that we want more of, albeit in an entirely different way.
Something old or something new?
I started my first blog in 2007.
I was at university studying fashion journalism, and if I’m entirely honest, I couldn’t tell you the name of it. It’s safe to say it was short-lived.
Fast forward to 2012, and what would go on to become my award shortlisted fashion blog was born. After being in front of the camera became too tiresome (shock!), my foray into fashion folded.
Or, should I say, quickly transitioned into the online lifestyle magazine slash content site that was totally of its time.
It was 2018. I wanted something fresh, a new challenge. I’d been freelancing for the past seven years and knew exactly what I wanted to create.
What it didn’t know, however, was that there was a market for this kind of thing! How I didn’t know after well over a decade in the game is beyond me. But lo and behold, I got an offer from a media company to buy the site, and found myself without somewhere to write for the first time in over fifteen years.
And now? Now, it’s time for something new.
Freelance in the City
Welcome to Freelane in the City, my new home (for now!).
While I can’t overly promise what this will be, I can commit to creating something you’ve seen before.
I’m a girl with her heart in the way we used to do it, her head in the clouds, and a few stories to tell.
So, if you’re a fan of random ramblings, a London-slash-suburban lifestyle, a creative mind, and all that comes with it, stick around.
I have a feeling you’re going to like it here.
