Is Blogging Dead?

Blogging is far from dead, and it’s time to find out why.

It might not be 2015, but blogging is still very much alive.

No, scrap that.

Blogging is so far from dead; blogging is thriving!

Yes, short-form and video content that can be easily digested is all the rage right now, but blogs still serve a very important purpose.

You might be wondering, is blogging still a thing? And yes, it very much is.

So, whether you want to get into blogging as a hobby, with the intent of creating a full-time income, or even as a tool to grow your business, you should.

I might be biased, but I’m a huge fan of blogging.

I’ve been doing it since 2007.

While the blogging landscape has certainly changed over the years, it’s still very much a valuable asset and viable wealth-building tool.

Here’s why.

The truth about blogging in 2025

People are still reading blogs.

In fact, MasterBlogging reported that roughly 4.44 billion people read blog posts.

That’s 83% of internet users.

Eighty. Three. Per cent!

But that’s not all. Because Hubspot tells us that business sites with blogs get a lot more traffic, inbound links, and monthly leads than those without.

And, more importantly, the global content marketing industry revenue is in the billions.

Yes, billions with a B.

So, if you’re out there wondering whether blogging is still a relevant and profitable side hustle or career choice, I think you have your answer.

Why blogging works

I mean, I could totally go down the rabbit hole of telling you why blogging is my favourite thing ever and why you should care. But, there are some real, very solid benefits of blogging that you need to take note of.

i. Blogging is great for SEO

While blogging wasn’t necessarily invented for SEO, it’s your strongest tool for it.

It’s the perfect medium for you to tick those boxes and appeal to Google’s algorithm.

Just make sure that you’re creating a strong content strategy that follows the latest SEO policies and you’re willing to play the long game.

It’ll pay off, I promise.

ii. And building an audience

With blogging comes a readership.

This means you get to build a loyal audience and create a sense of community in one go.

If you want to establish an online presence, connect with your audience, and foster meaningful conversation around a set topic, blogging is your go-to.

iii. It’s the perfect information source

Your favourite social media platform is a lot of fun.

But it’s limited.

It will often attract a lot of instant gratification, meaning that people don’t come to your content to get a ton of information.

But when you want to share a lot of information, there’s blogging.

More in-depth, thought-leadership style content is great for your blog.

If you want to establish yourself as an expert or share more detailed insights, why not do it with a blog?

iv. It’s engaging and builds trust

There’s no denying that blogging builds trust.

While some people will always skim read (and it’s important for you to make your posts skimmable for this reason), some will want the hard stuff.

With your blog, you set the tone.

It’s your voice, your authenticity, and your personality that shine through.

All of which builds trust.

When you want to fashion a genuine form of connection with your audience, blogging is the way to go.

v. Blogging is a monetization option in its own right

And let’s not forget, you can earn money from it too.

Advertising, affiliate sales, product sales, you name it. There are a million ways to earn money blogging.

Okay, maybe not a million.

But some bloggers are quite literally earning millions from their blogs.

So why can’t you?

Is starting a blog right for you?

But, with all that in mind, you still need to work out if it’s right for you.

If you don’t love writing or want to do it, then maybe not.

But if you’ve got something to say, you enjoy putting your thoughts down on paper (or fingers to keyboard), and you want to build a hobby, career, or business, it’s great.

Likewise, if you’re a company and you want a very impactful, authentic, and results-driven marketing method that performs, blogging as the strongest form of content marketing is a no-brainer.

And if you don’t know where to begin, I’ve got you.

I have a feeling this could be the start of a little series here on FITC!
